Plagiomnium CF Affine, commonly identified as Pearl moss., is a distinctive aquatic moss valued for its rounded, pearl-like leaves and soft, lush texture. Unlike finer mosses such as Taxiphyllum species, Pearl Moss has broader leaf structures, giving it a unique, slightly bold appearance while still maintaining a delicate aesthetic in aquascapes.
This moss is widely used to create natural, forest-like details, attaching easily to hardscape such as driftwood and rocks. Its compact growth and vibrant green colour make it suitable for both subtle accents and featured layouts.
Pearl Moss spreads gradually by attaching itself to surfaces, forming dense cushions over time when maintained correctly.
The defining feature of Pearl Moss is its rounded, slightly translucent leaves, which create a soft, “pearl-like” visual effect.
Compared to finer moss varieties, it has a more structured and layered look, making it ideal for adding texture and depth to aquascapes.
This moss is considered relatively easy to maintain, adapting well to a range of aquarium conditions, although stable parameters promote healthier growth.
