DESCRIPTION

Dennerle - Cryptocoryne lutea Hobbit

Introduction:

Cryptocoryne lutea is one of the easiest Cryptocoryne species from Sri Lanka to care for. The new dwarf form, ‘Hobbit’, was isolated from a normal sized plant in the greenhouse and further propagated in the laboratory. Growing to a height of just a few centimetres, this Cryptocoryne is ideal for even the smallest aquaria. The growth rate is also significantly slower than that of the stem form. With good lighting, the leaves become a deep purplish-brown color and make a nice contrast to other green foreground plants.

Care Requirements

Water Parameters:
• Temperature: 20–28°C
• pH Range: 6.0–7.5
• Hardness: 2–12°dGH

Nutrient Requirements:
Feeds primarily from the water column; a complete liquid fertilizer improves colour and vigor. CO₂ is optional but enhances density and growth in most layouts.

Tank Setup:
Attach to wood or rock with glue or thread; keep the rhizome above the substrate to prevent rot. Prefers low to moderate light; avoid intense light to reduce algae on leaves. Gentle to moderate flow helps keep leaves clean.

Care Tips:
Trim older or damaged leaves to encourage fresh growth. Keep parameters consistent and avoid drastic changes.

Disclaimer:
Product images are for display purposes only. As natural products, live plants vary in size, shape, and colour.
