Dennerle - Echinodorus Green Chamäleon
Introduction:
The Dennerle Echinodorus ‘Green Chameleon’ is a fascinating color-changing sword plant that truly lives up to its name. Originally bred from Echinodorus ‘Simply Red’ × Echinodorus, this exceptional cultivar displays a pure green coloration in its emersed (grown above water) form. Once submerged in the aquarium, however, it undergoes a remarkable transformation.
In its early submerged growth stage, the slightly wavy leaf blades appear light green. With good lighting and stable conditions, the plant gradually develops stunning color variations over the following months. Depending on light intensity and nutrient availability, leaves can range from rich olive green to deep wine-red variegation. This evolving display makes it a dynamic centerpiece and a true highlight for any Echinodorus enthusiast.
With a height of up to 40 cm, ‘Green Chameleon’ is ideal for the middleground of larger aquariums, where its changing tones can be fully appreciated. Its moderate growth rate and adaptability to a wide range of water parameters make it suitable for both experienced aquascapers and dedicated hobbyists.
