DESCRIPTION

Rotala wallichii – Tissue Culture (TC)

Fine-Leaved Rotala

Rotala wallichii is a beautiful, fine-textured stem plant prized for its soft, feathery leaves and its ability to develop striking pink to deep red tones under strong lighting. Native to Southeast Asia, it brings movement, colour, and elegance to any aquascape. Best suited to midground or background placement, this species thrives in high light with CO₂ supplementation, rewarding experienced aquarists with dense, bushy growth and intense coloration.

Care Summary

Type: Stem plant
Position: Midground–Background
Light: High light for compact growth and red coloration
CO₂: Required for best results
Growth Rate: Moderate
Difficulty: Medium–Advanced

Notes:
• Prefers soft, slightly acidic water (pH 5.5–7.0; 22–28°C).
• Regular trimming encourages bushier, denser growth.
• Plant TC portions in small clumps with slight spacing to allow light penetration.
• Benefits from micronutrient-rich fertilisation, especially iron, under high light.
