Vallisneria americana, commonly known as Jungle Val or American Eelgrass, is a hardy and undemanding background plant perfect for creating lush, natural backdrops in freshwater aquariums. Its long, ribbon-like leaves can grow impressively tall, gently swaying with water movement and providing excellent shelter for fish and shrimp.

This species thrives in a wide range of water conditions, making it ideal for both beginners and experienced aquascapers. With sufficient lighting and nutrient-rich substrate, Vallisneria americana will readily propagate by sending out runners, forming a dense, flowing underwater meadow over time.
