DESCRIPTION

Juncus repens – Tissue Culture

Juncus repens is a delicate, grass-like marsh plant that adapts beautifully to permanent submersion, making it a versatile and attractive choice for modern aquascapes. Native to the southern and eastern regions of North America, this creeping rush naturally inhabits shallow, marshy waters and thrives in similar aquarium conditions.

In the aquarium, Juncus repens is hardy, adaptable, and easy to care for. It develops slender, upright shoots that create a soft, meadow-like effect, especially when planted in groups. When combined with other grass-like species, it allows you to design natural, decorative landscapes full of movement and texture. It also works exceptionally well as a “filler plant” between stones or hardscape, adding a fresh and natural touch.

Under strong lighting and with a good supply of micronutrients, the shoots may develop subtle reddish hues, adding extra visual interest. Softer water and a stable CO₂ supply will promote compact, healthy growth.

As a tissue culture plant, it is delivered free from pests, algae, and pathogens — ideal for sensitive or newly established aquariums.

Care Note (Tissue Culture)

We recommend thoroughly rinsing off the nutrient gel from the roots with chlorine-free water before planting. This helps prevent mildew or algae growth in the aquarium, as the culture medium contains abundant nutrients.
