Bucephalandra ‘Godzilla’ is a striking and highly distinctive Bucephalandra variety, prized for its elongated, heavily textured leaves with pronounced wavy edges. Its rugged foliage gives it a wild, almost prehistoric appearance, making it an exceptional feature plant for aquascapes where fine detail and character are important.
Leaf colour can range from deep green to olive and darker green tones, with new growth sometimes displaying warmer or slightly reddish-brown hues before maturing. Under aquarium lighting, the textured leaf surface can develop an attractive subtle sheen.
Like other Bucephalandra, ‘Godzilla’ is an epiphytic plant and is best attached to driftwood, rock or other hardscape. The rhizome should never be buried in the substrate. Its slow, compact growth makes it particularly well suited to detailed aquascapes, nano tanks and mature displays where it can be positioned as a focal accent.
‘Godzilla’ stands apart from many traditional Bucephalandra varieties because of its bold, irregular leaf shape and heavily textured appearance. It is an excellent choice for aquascapers looking for something a little different from the smaller, smoother-leaved Buce varieties.
Important: Do not bury the rhizome. Attach the plant to wood or rock and allow the roots to establish naturally.
Art of Aqua Tip: Position ‘Godzilla’ where the leaves can be viewed from the front or slightly above. Its unusual leaf structure becomes a beautiful point of interest when contrasted against mosses, fine-leaved plants or lighter-coloured hardscape.
