Maple Leaf Stone is a distinctive aquascaping stone known for its warm reddish-brown colouring, rugged texture and, on selected pieces, striking web-like patterns that give this stone its unique character.
When dry, Maple Leaf Stone displays warm, earthy shades of tan, brown, reddish-brown and rust. Once wet, these colours deepen considerably, revealing richer reds, darker browns and warm orange-rust tones.
One of the most distinctive characteristics of Maple Leaf Stone is the fine web-like or leaf-vein patterning that can appear across the surface. These intricate lines are particularly striking on certain pieces, although the amount and visibility of the pattern will naturally vary from stone to stone.
The irregular shapes, rugged surfaces and warm colouring make Maple Leaf Stone an excellent choice for nature-style aquascapes, dramatic rock formations, canyon-inspired layouts and natural river or forest landscapes.
Pieces with pronounced web-like patterns can make particularly beautiful focal stones, while less patterned pieces can be positioned around them to create a cohesive and natural-looking formation.
Maple Leaf Stone creates a striking contrast against lush green aquatic plants and mosses. Its warm earthy colours also pair beautifully with natural wood, darker substrates and neutral or natural-coloured sands.
Plants such as Bucephalandra, Anubias, ferns and mosses can be used around the hardscape to soften the formation while still allowing the stone's unusual texture and patterning to remain visible.
Please note: Maple Leaf Stone is a natural material. Colour, pattern, texture, shape and size will vary from piece to piece, and not every stone will display the same degree of web-like patterning. The dry and wet images are provided to illustrate how the appearance of the stone can change once wet or placed underwater.
Water parameters: As a natural stone containing mineral deposits, Maple Leaf Stone may slightly increase water hardness. Consider this when using it in aquariums where very soft water parameters are required.
