Bring natural texture, shelter and a touch of the wild into your aquarium with Lotus Pods. These beautifully structured dried seed pods feature distinctive chambers and an organic form that makes each piece a striking addition to botanical-style aquariums, shrimp tanks and naturalistic aquascapes.

Lotus Pods are a natural by-product of food production in India, where many parts of the lotus plant are traditionally used. The empty seed pods are collected, cleaned and air-dried without added chemicals or preservatives, giving them a second life as a unique aquarium botanical.

Once submerged, Lotus Pods gradually darken and develop a beautifully natural, aged appearance. Their hollow chambers create interesting microhabitats and hiding spaces, particularly for shrimp, shrimplets and other small aquarium inhabitants. Over time, the surface may also develop biofilm, providing an additional grazing area for shrimp and other microorganisms.

Like many natural botanicals, Lotus Pods release tannins and other organic compounds as they soak. This may create a soft amber or tea-coloured tint in the water and can contribute to a more natural blackwater or botanical-style environment. In soft, low-buffered water, botanicals may also contribute to a gradual reduction in pH.

Recommended Usage:
As a starting point, use approximately 1 large Lotus Pod or 3 small Lotus Pods per 60 litres of aquarium water. This is only a guideline and can be adjusted according to the desired botanical effect and water parameters.

Please Note:
As this is a completely natural product, size, shape, colour and texture will vary from piece to piece. A light biofilm or fungal-looking growth may develop after the pod is submerged. This is a normal part of the decomposition process and is commonly grazed by shrimp and other aquarium inhabitants.

Preparation: Rinse thoroughly before use. Lotus Pods may float initially and will generally become waterlogged and sink naturally with time. They can also be pre-soaked if preferred.
