Scissortail Rasboras, scientifically known as Rasbora trilineata, are elegant and highly active schooling fish that bring constant movement and energy to the freshwater aquarium. Named for their distinctive forked tails that flick like a pair of scissors as they swim, these fish feature sleek silver bodies accented by a striking black-and-white tail pattern.
Peaceful and social by nature, Scissortail Rasboras thrive in groups of at least six or more and are best suited to spacious community aquariums with plenty of open swimming space. They are not aggressive or known to nip fins, making them excellent tank mates for a wide variety of peaceful fish species. They generally occupy the middle and upper levels of the aquarium, where their synchronized schooling behaviour creates a stunning display.
Hardy and easy to care for, Scissortail Rasboras are ideal for both beginner and experienced aquarists. A well-planted aquarium with gentle water flow and stable water conditions will help them feel secure and display their best colours and natural behaviour.
