Bucephalandra sp. ‘Helena’ is an attractive, slow-growing aquatic plant valued for its compact growth, distinctive foliage and versatility in freshwater aquascaping. This beautiful Bucephalandra is an excellent choice for adding natural texture and detail to driftwood, rocks and carefully designed planted aquariums.
Like other Bucephalandra varieties, ‘Helena’ grows from a rhizome and develops attractive foliage that complements mosses, ferns and other epiphytic plants. Its relatively slow growth makes it particularly suitable for aquascapes where minimal trimming and long-term stability are desirable.
Supplied by Horizon Labs in tissue culture (TC) form, this plant is cultivated under sterile laboratory conditions, providing a clean start for your aquarium without the usual risk of introducing unwanted snails, algae or pests.

Bucephalandra ‘Helena’ offers understated beauty and excellent versatility. Its attractive foliage and slow growth make it ideal for aquascapers who appreciate detailed planting without constant maintenance.
Whether used as a small accent on driftwood or grouped along a rocky formation, Helena adds natural texture and depth to an aquascape.
Carefully remove the plants from the tissue culture cup.
Rinse away all nutrient gel using clean, aquarium-safe water.
Gently separate the plantlets into smaller portions.
Attach the plants to driftwood or rock using aquarium-safe glue or thread.
Keep the rhizomes exposed and allow the roots to establish naturally.
Important: Never bury the rhizome, as this may cause the plant to rot. Tissue-cultured plants may experience some leaf melt while adapting to submerged aquarium conditions.
Art of Aqua Tip: Position Helena in areas with gentle water circulation and stable lighting. Its slow growth makes it an excellent companion for Anubias, mosses and other Bucephalandra varieties.
