Cryptocoryne striolata is a fascinating and less commonly encountered Cryptocoryne originating from Borneo, where it is naturally found growing in and around forest streams.
This species develops attractive elongated leaves with a beautifully textured surface and gently undulating margins. Depending on growing conditions and the particular form, mature foliage can display a mixture of green, olive, bronze and brown tones, giving the plant a wonderfully natural appearance in the aquarium.
Unlike many of the more commonly available Cryptocoryne species, C. striolata is particularly well suited to aquascapes where texture, subtle colour and a more unusual botanical character are desired.
Best suited to the midground, around wood and rockwork, or as an individual feature plant in a natural-style aquascape.
Its textured foliage works especially well alongside Bucephalandra, smaller Cryptocoryne species, mosses and other plants used in Borneo-inspired or stream-style layouts.

Like most Cryptocoryne, C. striolata appreciates a stable aquarium and a nutrient-rich substrate. Avoid repeatedly moving an established plant, as Cryptocoryne generally perform best once allowed to settle and develop a healthy root system.
Supplied as a Horizon Labs Tissue Culture, grown under sterile laboratory conditions and free from unwanted snails, algae and aquarium pests.
Remove the plant from the cup, carefully rinse away the culture gel and separate it into smaller portions before planting.
For aquarists who already have the familiar Cryptocoryne varieties and are looking for something a little different, Cryptocoryne striolata is an exciting addition. Its textured foliage, earthy colouration and Bornean origin make it particularly appealing for natural and collector-style planted aquariums.
