DESCRIPTION

Taxiphyllum sp. ‘Flame Moss’ – Tissue Culture

Add movement and texture to your aquascape with Taxiphyllum sp. ‘Flame Moss’, a unique moss known for its upright, twisting growth that resembles flickering green flames underwater.

This slow-growing moss is perfect for attaching to driftwood, rocks, and other hardscape, creating a natural forest-like appearance. Its compact growth makes it a favourite for aquascapers looking to add detail, depth, and a more natural feel to planted aquariums.

Planting:
Attach to rocks, driftwood, or mesh using aquarium-safe glue or thread. Do not bury in substrate.

Growth: Slow to moderate
Light: Low to medium
CO₂: Not required (but can encourage healthier, faster growth)
Placement: Hardscape, moss walls, nano aquariums, shrimp tanks, and nature-style aquascapes
Difficulty: Easy

Aquarium benefits:

  • Provides excellent cover and grazing areas for shrimp and small fish
  • Adds texture and vertical structure to aquascapes
  • Hardy and adaptable once established

Interesting fact:
Flame Moss gets its name from its characteristic upward growth pattern, with fronds that twist and curl like green flames rising through the water.
