Lalin Sand & Gravel/100g is available for pre-order – please confirm stock before ordering!
Warm earthy tones, available in three textures for natural aquascaping.
Lalin Sand & Gravel is a naturally styled decorative substrate characterised by its distinctive blend of warm terracotta, rust, reddish-brown and subtle earthy tones.
Available in three grain sizes, Lalin gives aquascapers the freedom to choose anything from a fine sandy foreground to a more textured gravel finish — or combine multiple sizes to recreate the layered appearance found in natural riverbeds and streams.
The rich, warm colouring creates beautiful contrast against green aquatic plants, dark driftwood and natural stone, while the variation between individual grains adds depth and character to the aquascape.
0.2–0.6 mm – Fine Sand
A fine texture ideal for open sandy areas, foregrounds, pathways and creating soft transitions between planted sections and hardscape.
0.6–1 mm – Coarse Sand / Fine Gravel
A versatile intermediate size that introduces more visible texture while maintaining a refined, natural appearance.
1–2 mm – Fine Gravel
The most textured of the three grades, ideal for riverbed-style layouts, areas around rocks and wood, and creating stronger visual detail.
One of the biggest advantages of the Lalin range is the ability to combine the different grain sizes within the same aquascape.
In nature, riverbeds rarely consist of particles that are all exactly the same size. Mixing fine sand with progressively larger grains creates more organic transitions and can make pathways, riverbanks and areas around hardscape appear considerably more natural.
Use the 0.2–0.6 mm as your finer base, introduce 0.6–1 mm through transition areas, and scatter the 1–2 mm gravel selectively around rocks and wood for additional texture and detail.
Three grain sizes • Warm earthy tones • Natural texture • Excellent for detailed aquascaping
Lalin's warm reddish and terracotta tones give it a distinctive character without looking artificially coloured. But what makes this range especially useful for aquascaping is the choice of particle sizes.
Use one size for a clean, consistent appearance — or combine all three to introduce the subtle variation and layering that makes a carefully designed aquascape look more like a piece of nature.
Preparation:
Rinse thoroughly before use to remove dust and loose particles.
